Joe Richter and Steve Phillips, Chairman of the Board
Joe Richter will retire from the Wick Board of Directors effective December 31, 2013. At his last Board meeting November 19 in Phoenix Mr. Richter was recognized for his service to Wick Communications. Mr. Richter joined the Wick Communications Board of Directors in 2003.
Mr. Richter was born in Bridgeport, Conn. and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Bridgeport while working as a reporter for the Bridgeport Post-Telegram. He went on to serve in the Marine Corp from 1969 to 1971.

Mr. Richter joined the Ottaway group in 1974 as a copy editor at the Danbury, Conn., News-Times, and became editor of the Port Jervis, NY, Union-Gazette a year later. Joe served in a variety of positions with Ottaway.
Rising through the ranks at Ottaway, in 1998 he was appointed president and chief operating officer of Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. Joe retired from Ottaway at the end of 2002.
Joe is retired and lives in Cortez, Florida. He is an avid world traveler having been to Western and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
