Frontiersman hires new ad director

cherie-curryThe Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman has added a veteran sales professional to its staff.

Cherie Curry started Aug. 31 as the Frontiersman’s ad director. A lifelong Alaskan, Curry brings a wealth of statewide experience to the position, most recently serving in a similar role since 2011 with Anchorage-based Greatlander Publications, which publishes three monthly direct-mail shoppers, including the Mat-Su Greatlander.

Prior to that, Curry worked for Morris Communications in Anchorage, where she built sales for several Morris publications and oversaw special events, such as the Anchorage Wedding Fair and Alaska Baby and Children’s Fair.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Cherie’s caliber on the Frontiersman team,” said Frontiersman publisher Mark Kelsey. “Her vast experience in this market and around the state will benefit both readers and advertisers.”

In addition to years of experience in print media, Curry also worked for nine years as GM and marketing director for KSRM Inc., a five radio station group on the Kenai Peninsula. She is also a past president and board member of the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and was recognized by the Alaska Journal of Commerce in 2002 as one of the top “Alaska Women in Business.”

“I am excited by the opportunity to work in this dynamic and growing community,” Curry said. “I look forward to meeting new people and renewing relationships with many others I already know.”
