Green Valley News staffers win Suburban Newspaper Association awards

The Green Valley News won three awards in the Suburban Newspapers Association Editorial Contest.

In a competition with other non-daily newspapers across North America:

- Editor James Bennett won first place for best opinion column with a series of commentaries written in 2007.

- Designer Brittany Hebert and Bennett won second place for best special section, Changing Times in Arizona Mines.

- Sports Editor Nick Prevenas won honorable mention for best sportswriting with a feature story on boxer Diego Corrales.
The contest was judged by the American Press Institute from more than 3,000 entries.
