New Iberia update

Several roads in the region are closed; Iberia Parish officials are strongly discouraging people from returning because there are areas in the parish that have street flooding problems, areas without water and sewerage, and weather reports indicated that another 4 inches of rain is expected today.

There are also several power lines that have been knocked down.

Cell phone use is spotty at best, although text messages are getting through better than calls. The cell phone we got from you all isn't working any better than local ones. Our office phones are working OK. Alan and JP are here, as is Don Shoopman and me. If they call from a land line, they can reach any extension. In the newsroom, the best extension to call is Ext. 3020 (me) or 3022 (Don).

For our folks only. If they can get back, there aren't any National Guard folks at the border.
