The Williston Herald's advertising director Wanda Olaf was voted in as the new president of the North Dakota Press Association at the 125th NDNA convention in Grand Forks on May 6.
"I'm looking forward to the next year," Olaf said. "I consider it an honor to be elected president of NDNA. NDNA is 125 years strong and I will do my best to keep it operating in the efficient and productive way to which the members are accustomed. The board of directors is a great group to work with."
With Olaf becoming president for the next year the 2012 NDNA convention will be held in Williston at the Airport International Inn next May.
Olaf said she is excited for the convention to come to Williston as there has been many changes since the last convention here.
Olaf is a graduate of Bowbells High School and the University of North Dakota. She has been attending the NDNA convention for 30 years, going back to 1981 when she worked for the McKenzie County Farmer in Watford City.
She is a member of the Williston Chamber of Commerce, MonDak Humane Society Board of Directors and the Williston Lions Club.
The others elected at the convention were Kathleen Lienen of the News-Monitor as first vice president, John Irby of The Bismarck Tribune as second vice president and Jill Friesz of the Grant County News as the third vice president.
Also, Jill Denning Gackle of BHG newspapers and Nikki Laine Zinke of the Valley City Times-Record were elected as the new directors of NDNA.
