Note from New Iberia publisher

All,

We've got our internet services restored, access to the web, email as of 8:58 local time.

We're back in business, planning to get the paper out on as near a regular schedule as possible. May have a little delay because of issues related to lack of web access, but news and sports working to make up ground.

Am pleased with our hurricane prep plans. Putting the Tuesday paper out as an early a.m. product, and then putting Wednesday's paper out Tuesday afternoon, looks like a good move.

I have not received a Lafayette paper since Tuesday a.m....no Wednesday paper though they had announced they'd also print on Tuesday, no Thursday paper today. Don't know if it's just a New Iberia delivery issue. No Baton Rouge paper Wednesday or Thursday either.

Know it was a pain for our employees and carriers to have to work ahead, do double duty getting papers out, etc., but am proud of way everyone pulled together in the face of the approaching storm, as well as proud of crew that worked through the storm to get us news and photos for our paper, and posted on our website.

We'll have a meeting in a day or two to talk about lessons learned from this storm so we can hopefully be better prepared for the next one.

We were lucky to be on the "good" side of Isaac. Rain was way less than threatened, I think less than an inch total. Had a few significant wind gusts, but for the most part not bad. Had limited power outages around the community and while there are still a few this morning, vast majority of employees and community have power (me too!).

We got off lucky and know we are fortunate to do so.

Weather this morning is overcast, light rain...mostly drizzle. Expect it to get better as morning progresses.

Hope our sister papers, fellow Wick employees in Bogalusa, Slidell, Covington, LaPlace are OK. If we can help them, let us know.
