Website Herald/Review Media
Herald/Review Media is looking for a versatile reporter to join our newsroom in beautiful Sierra Vista, Arizona. We need a skilled multi-platform content creator with a passion for telling the stories of a community to help us provide coverage across Cochise County.
The job: Your primary beats will be the city of Sierra Vista and providing breaking news coverage. On any given day, you might be interviewing the mayor, covering a house fire, writing a feature on a new business in town or shooting a video with a local nonprofit.
We are looking for stories that help set the agenda, that address uncomfortable issues, are relevant and meaningful, and that tell the rest of the state what we’re all about. Our staff is experienced and enthusiastic about good journalism and serving the community through meaningful work. We are proud of our family-owned company.
Who we’re looking for: We need you to be experienced with social media, video and photography; strong knowledge of AP style and grammar; clean, consistent, accurate writer. We value common sense. We need somebody who can come up with enterprise ideas and contribute to projects. Nights and weekend work as needed (there’s not much of this). Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
Candidates should have a degree in journalism or a related field and some experience in a newsroom, especially writing news and features, but we are willing to work with and train the right person looking to start a new career. Our editor understands the challenges of the industry and will work with you to improve your craft and develop into an even better journalist.
More about us: Our media organization is committed to the future, and is expanding our reach across social media platforms, podcasts, digital newsletters and much more. As a part of our growing newsroom team, you will contribute to each of these platforms as we continue to deliver our content in dynamic ways to new audiences.
Our community has something for everyone, with Sierra Vista providing all the conveniences of a larger city, while smaller towns across the region feature artist enclaves and Old West charm. Our climate is cooler in the summer than the rest of southern Arizona, and Tucson isn’t far away if you need something not available here.
As part of Wick Communications, we offer a competitive package of pay and benefits, including medical, dental, 401(k) and a couple extra days off per year just because. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Interested? Send a resume, at least five clips and a cover letter explaining how you would contribute to our newsroom to editor Andrew Paxton at email@example.com.
