Louisiana Payroll Information
Payroll guide lines for employees in Bogalusa, Covington,LaPlace. & Slidell after hurricane Katrina: (issued 9/09/05)
- Employees must contact us by Wednesday September 14 to remainon the payroll.
- Employees must check in on a regular basis as directed (thismay be daily), to stay on the payroll. (We can use the Wick web site, voice mailhere, voice mail in LA or in person).
- Wick will continue to pay through September 30 those employeesexcused from working. After that date, employees may use accrued vacation ifapproved by the Publisher, sick leave if appropriate and verified or be laid offand collect unemployment. Medical will be continued for one month after a layoffthen employees may elect COBRA.
- Employees will be expected to report as directed any timebefore September 30 based on operational needs.
- Employees may be asked to work partial days and may be paid ona full time basis.
- Employees may be asked to perform duties that are not part oftheir normal job description.
- Consideration will be given to individual circumstances andneeds. Safety will be the first consideration.
- If an employee fails to report as directed, they may be takenoff the payroll.
- Employees that are out of the area and must travel will begiven 48 hours to report unless that time is extended by agreement.
- Conditions in the affected area will be assessed on a dailybasis by the Management team on the ground in the area.
- Certain operations will be called back to normal hours andoperation before others.
- Slidell, Bogalusa, LaPlace and Covington employees may berequired to report to alternate locations to perform work.
