Brendan Joel Kelley has been named Editor of the Anchorage Press

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-Brendan Joel Kelley, an alternative weekly journalist for all of his adult life, has been named Editor of the Anchorage Press. Wick Communications, parent company of the Press, announced his appointment today.
Kelley, 36, has been with the Press since December of 2007, and was most recently Associate Editor of the 18-year-old alternative weekly newspaper. Born and raised in Anchorage, he spent a dozen years in Arizona writing for Phoenix New Times, that state's largest alt- weekly, before returning to Alaska to work for the Press.
"I wrote for the Anchorage Press for the first time shortly after it was established, and I'm proud to have returned and to now have the opportunity to work with our staff to continue and expand on the paper's history of providing incisive news and analysis and unmatched arts and entertainment coverage," Kelley said.
Kelley is an energetic member of the Anchorage community. He is a recent graduate of the Alaska Humanity Forum's Leadership Anchorage Program, an alumnus of the Institute of the North's Emerging Leaders Dialogue and a member of United Way's Emerging Leaders program, as well as an alumnus of the FBI Citizens' Academy. He also appears frequently in local media, representing the Press on talk radio and television.
