The newspaper also took second for Editorial Excellence in separate judging that focused on opinion pieces. It is not the first time the Inland Press Association has honored the California weekly. In 2007, the association named the Half Moon Bay Review the Nation’s Best Non-Daily Newspaper in its circulation class. This year’s Front Page contest considered writing, headlines, design and photos on four predetermined dates. Of the Review, judges wrote:“Consistently good writing and reporting to back up a handsomely designed newspaper. Generally plays good art well, regardless of its source. Reporting is solid, with staff clearly asking follow-up questions and adding important context, even in feature stories. The mix of topics, from government to schools to business to personality pieces, is quite good, and controversial issues get played on page 1 in a manner that seems in proportion to their importance. A fine newspaper.”The awards will be presented during the association’s annual meeting in Chicago on Oct. 30.“The great thing about an award like this is that it recognizes the entire team,” said Review Editor Clay Lambert. “Everyone at the Review contributes in some way to the planning and execution of our front pages. It’s an honor to be recognized and an even bigger honor to work with such talented people.”[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
