Herald/Review wins 14 AMA awards, including Diaz for Account Executive of the Year

The Herald/Review's Marithza Diaz was named the Account Executive of the Year at last week's Arizona Media Association's Better Newspapers Contest and Excellence in Advertising.

The Herald/Review competed in Division 2, Mid-size Market and Mid Reach Niche that included 32 publications and took home 14 awards in editorial and advertising awards, though Diaz's award included publications in all divisions.

"Marithza is an extremely valued member of our team and provides insightful feedback for our products and services as well as a vital team member for making sure our events are the best in the community through her eye for design, décor and execution," said Herald/Review Publisher Jennifer Sorenson. "Marithza handles mostly small mom and pop businesses which can be the most challenging to work with and she provides top notch customer service and ads that get a return on their investment."

First-place award winners for the Herald/Review included Managing Editor Matt Hickman for Best Page Design, Photojournalist Mark Levy for Best News Photo, Herald/Review staff for Best Use of Photography, Melina Christopher for Best Promotion Ad, Series or Section, Account Executive Branden Sanchez for Best Online Ad and Herald/Review staff for Best Online Ad (static).

Second-place awards went to Hickman for Best Team, Sport or Sports Beat Coverage and Herald/Review staff for Best Event and Sorenson for Best Sports Photo.

Third-place awards went to Hickman for Best Headline, Sorenson for Best Advertising Headline, Sanchez for Best Ad Under 1/2 Page and Content Creation Specialist Jahdai Jones for Best Multimedia Ad.
