Three Wick Communications newspapers have been recognized
for editorial and design excellence in their circulation categories.

The Montrose Daily Press (Colorado) was named the best small daily
(circulation under 10,000) in Colorado by the Colorado Associated Press
Editors and Reporters (CAPER) on Saturday, February 24. The Daily Press
earned a total of 27 awards from CAPER and the Colorado Press
Association, including first place for online/breaking news reporting
and investigative reporting – for a package exposing a local mining
company that was pouring the contents of automobile catalytic
converters into the local groundwater.

The Daily Press awards come on the heels of national recognition for
the Half Moon Bay Review (California) and The Independent-Enterprise
(Payette, Idaho) by the Inland Press Association in February. The Half
Moon Bay Review was named the "Nation’s Best Non-Daily Newspaper" in
the 5 to 10,000 circulation category, and The Independent-Enterprise
earned the same honor for newspapers under 5,000 circulation.

The Independent-Enterprise was cited for its "exciting page one,
excellent use of photos, interesting features and good community
coverage." The Half Moon Bay Review was recognized for its "new design,
sizzling editorials, and useful coverage."

The awards marked the first time The Independent-Enterprise and The
Montrose Daily Press have been recognized for general excellence.
